Julian Hawley tells the story of his ancestor Harry Murray, who was awarded the VC for his heroic efforts in WWI and then stayed in military service until 1944, only to sadly succumb to a car accident in later life.

The National Memorial Arboretum as a Genealogical Resource

Roger Hailwood talks about the National Arboretum which has become the National Centre for Remembrance and, as such, is one of the Royal British Legion charities. Its central feature is the Armed Forces Memorial, which follows on from the work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, and has a memorial wall, on which there are over 16,000 names of service personnel, who have lost their lives while on duty during the years since the end of WW2.
