About MFHS
Malvern Family History Society is based in Malvern, Worcestershire but has members worldwide.
Our members have very varied genealogical interests. Some have Worcestershire ancestors whilst other just happen to live in the area. We aim to offer a forum for members’ interests and provide mutual support in our researches, irrespective of county or country.
Prospective members will find others at a similar stage in their researches whether they are beginners or experienced genealogists.
Where Do Our Members Live?
About half of our members live either in Malvern or Worcestershire, the rest live elsewhere in the United Kingdom or abroad. Most of our ‘out of area members’ have ancestors who lived at some time Worcestershire and we endeavour to assist them by discovering what we can about their family connections. All are welcome at our monthly meetings. Indeed, we have had members from Australia attend when they were visiting the area.
Join us and benefit from
- A copy of our journal ‘Tree Tappers’ – issued quarterly
- Free attendance at our monthly meetings online
- Access to our Members area on the website
- Access to our research team for out of area members
- Research queries can be publicised free in Tree Tappers
- Free access to the transcribed Worcestershire parish records via FHSOnline
- Trips for local members to places of interest
As our meetings are online, there is no need to live locally to be more involved. Our research is not confined to ancestors in Worcestershire; indeed most of us have ancestors who lived their lives elsewhere. We are just a group of people meet on a regular basis to exchange ideas, give mutual support and listen to a variety of interesting speakers.
All members receive a copy of our quarterly journal called ‘Tree Tappers’ which comprises articles on all aspects of family history and members’ own experiences.
Tree Tappers
Tree Tappers is our journal, published four times a year and is free to all members. For UK members, the magazine can be taken in hard copy or in a digital version. Overseas members can only receive the digital version.
MFHS Committee
The society is run by a dedicated committee. All our volunteers, and we are always looking out for new committee members.
History
We were founded in 1996 by a small group of local family historians. Since then we have grown steadily to the current membership of over 300 people across the world.
