Would you like some help with your research?
Do you live outside the Worcestershire area and need help with investigating local aspects of your family research? Malvern Family History Society will undertake genealogical research on your behalf. Research may well involve going to The Hive in Worcester where the county archives are kept. In some instances where families straddle the County borders it may be necessary to journey to Hereford or Gloucester Record Offices.
PLEASE NOTE THAT AT PRESENT WE ARE SHORT OF PEOPLE WILLING TO DO RESEARCH ON BEHALF OF THE SOCIETY AND SO CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER YOUR REQUEST.
YOU ARE STILL WELCOME TO SUBMIT A REQUEST AND IF IT’S A SIMPLE ONE THEN WE MAY BE ABLE TO ANSWER IT.
How much does it cost?
Fees for research are as follows:
MEMBERS
- First hour free.
- Subsequent time at £10 per hour.
- Plus researcher’s expenses including postage and travel.
NON-MEMBERS
- £10 per hour
- Plus researcher’s expenses including postage and travel.
Please note:
- There is a minimum fee of £20.
- Please state how much you will pay on your application. If you are unsure about how long the research may take, you can obtain a quotation.
- Payment is required in advance of the research.
- If the research looks like it will take longer than we/you anticipated, we will contact you for additional payment before further research is undertaken.
- Charges are payable even if the research is unsuccessful.
Once we have received your form, we will contact you and arrange for payment prior to commencing research. We can take payments via PayPal, bank transfer or cheque.

What do we need to know?
When requesting research, please be very specific in your questions and give as much information as you have, in order to avoid duplication and thereby keeping costs as low as possible. Please state which parishes and census returns if any, you have already searched.
How quickly do I get an answer?
Please remember that our researchers are volunteers working in their own sometimes limited time, please be patient and do not expect an instant reply.
