Our speaker for June is Dr Alan M Wadsworth who is the Project Leader, Worcestershire Farmsteads Project.

Dr. Alan Wadsworth grew up on his family’s farm in Yorkshire. While living in Wiltshire he led the Wiltshire Farmsteads Project from 2012-2016 and then moved to Worcestershire, starting the Worcestershire Farmsteads Project in 2017. A team of volunteers has helped him to record more than 40 Worcestershire farms in detail since then. His talk will cover the following:

* Background to the Farmsteads Project
* History of agriculture from 15th century onwards, with reference to buildings
* Different types of historic farm buildings and their uses
* How farmsteads were organised and why
* Building materials used
* How we go about recording and researching farm buildings
