On 11th September a group of members visited the Sacred Heart, & St Catherine of Alexandria church in Droitwich. The Catholic church was opened in 1921 and is decorated with stunning mosaics and sculpture, designed by Gabriel Pippet and carried out by the mosaicists Maurice Josey and Fred Oates. Pippet also created the carved pillars and the wooden stations of the Cross.

We spent nearly two hours touring the church, hearing about its history and admiring the mosaics which cover nearly every surface of the walls and ceiling.

It is well worth a visit to see something that must be unique in Britain.
