DESCRIPTION:Penny Walters has taught Psychology to university students for many years. She has carried out extensive research into her own origins from adoption to her Irish roots. She has used DNA to confirm her origins and to explore the cultural heritage of her mixed- race children. Penny has a postgraduate qualification in genealogy from Strathclyde University. She will be appearing in C4’s Genealogy Roadshow. \nEthical dilemmas in genealogy is the title of her book published last year and the subject of her presentation to us. Her paper will be available from the Members Area of our website. DESCRIPTION:Some of you will know that Family Tree Live is taking place at Alexandra Palace in London at the end of April. MFHS is neither taking a stand there nor planning a group visit\, partly because of the cost of getting to and staying in London. However\, the good news is that one of the major exhibitors\, Family Tree Maker (FTM)\, is coming to Malvern ahead of the show and we have an additional meeting in April. \nThe meeting is at the Eden Centre from 7pm to 9pm\, starting promptly at 7pm. I know many members use FTM and I expect others would like to see what it can do for you. There will be no MFHS announcements: it’s straight into FTM. \nThe event will consist of an interactive class going over how to use the current version of FTM and explanations of what they have added in the latest update. They will bring along their products with great pricing for members to take advantage of\, but there is no obligation to purchase. \nIf you are interested in coming to this special Family Tree Maker event with us\, FTM would like to know the level of interest. DESCRIPTION:Roger Hailwood talks about the National Arboretum which has become the National Centre for Remembrance and\, as such\, is one of the Royal British Legion charities. Its central feature is the Armed Forces Memorial\, which follows on from the work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission\, and has a memorial wall\, on which there are over 16\,000 names of service personnel\, who have lost their lives while on duty during the years since the end of WW2.
