SUMMARY:The Lloyd George Domesday & National Farm Survey
DESCRIPTION:A talk given by Gill Blanchard. ONLY ON  ZOOM. \nGill is a full-time historical researcher\, professional genealogist\, house historian and author with an academic background. She has published a number of books and articles of interest to the family historian. For more details see her website https://www.pastsearch.co.uk. \nIn this evening’s talk she will describe two major data sets and explain how you can make use of them. The Inland Revenue Valuation Office Survey of 1910-1920 is often referred to as the Lloyd George Domesday Survey. Details of farmers\, farm owners\, land type and usage are included. \n\nThe link to the meeting will also be shown here when you’re logged in.

SUMMARY:Finding My Grandad's Global Family
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Ben Nicholls \nBen says: \nWhen\, at the age of 24\, I discovered that my grandad had four children by three different women over a period of 40 years\, I felt a mission coming on! It was a quest that took me to the other side of the world and in which fact is stranger than fiction. \nWe will now learn about this story. \nAt the Eden Centre and online. \n\nThe link to the meeting will also be shown here when you’re logged in.\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Birmingham’s Back-to-Backs
DESCRIPTION:Many of you will have heard of the National Trust’s restoration of a court of 19th century back to back houses in Hurst Street\, Birmingham\, which are open to visitors. These were small dwellings arranged around a courtyard or in terraces\, each of which shared at least one wall with another house. Typically\, only the front of each house had a door and windows. The inhabitants of several houses shared a water pump and outdoor toilet facilities. Such houses were commonplace in central Birmingham but almost all were swept away in the slum clearances of the 1960s. Clive Katz will talk to us about the lives of the people who lived in the NT houses in four periods: the 1840s\, 1870s\, 1930s and 1970s. \nNote the speaker is different from those originally advertised. \nAt the Eden Centre and online. \n\nThe link to the meeting will also be shown here when you’re logged in.
